Spring Has Sprung!

Winter feels terribly long for someone whose favourite form of photography is macro nature photography (not to mention someone who also hates the cold!). But the long-awaited spring is actually here, and I couldn't be more excited to break out the camera a little more often now.
Here are a few of my recent shots as I have taken walks in the nicer weather and am starting to really seek out more signs of spring. I have crocuses and snow drops too, but these ones are more of my faves. I hope you like them too!
This first one is a great example of how some very uninspiring winter shrubs can actually be beautiful when looked at in the right way. A closer look, with some spring sunshine as the backdrop (and some road traffic too! a little of the bokeh here is the result of passing cars!), makes something pretty plain quite exquisite.

This next shot just says 'romance' to me. So soft and beautiful, yet it's ordinary heather that you can find all over town.

What says spring better than budding leaves and flowers? I loved the light on this, and how it almost seems to glow from within.

More budding shrubs. Somehow it says "autumn" more than "spring" to me, but that's only due to the colour tones. It is a sign of spring in a local garden.

Another shot taken on one of the main streets through town; but with the shallow depth of field, all you see is the beautiful feather against some golden warm sunshine.

A friend of mine called this next shot 'trippy'. I agree! But I love trying different perspectives and focusing on very precise details. The shape and colour of this gorgeous leaf tip makes me happy -- and makes me thankful for a Creator that puts unexpected colour in surprising little places, and shapes things intricately so that they are delightfully worthy of close inspection.

And lastly, not a macro shot, but a painterly take on a common scene in our neck of the woods: fishermen on the river on a sunny day.

Happy spring to everyone! See you again soon!
