Garden Pleasures

I belong to a local camera club, and one of the benefits of that is the opportunity to go on occasional outings with the group. It's always a pleasure to go shooting with fellow photography nuts -- er, enthusiasts. No one asks you why on earth you're lying on your belly to get a water lily shot, or what you're doing when you're spending 10 minutes in front of a tiny bug trying to get the perfect shot. They get it, because they're doing the same things! (Okay, maybe not the lying on the belly thing... I was asked by my club members if I wanted to put a bathing suit on to get closer to the water lily!!!) Last weekend, one of our club members opened up his beautiful garden to the club, and we had a great time shooting together. Here are some of my shots from that afternoon.

There were some stunning porcelain berries as we entered the back garden. What colours!

I always enjoy getting bee shots!

I watched this beautiful little snail that was no bigger than my thumbnail traverse this leaf from one end to the other, and then move over the edge and start going upside down on the underside of it.

One of my favourite shots from the day, this stunning Japanese anemone flower with that exquisite little white curl in the lower left.

A beautiful hoverfly decided to join in the fun in the Japanese anemone area of the garden.

A different angle for the Japanese anemone flowers.

Love the little fibres and the curl on this!

And here is the water lily shot that had me on my belly on some rocks. I hope it was worth the effort!

Last but not least, as I was leaving our friend's house, I spotted this and had to take a shot. Not a garden shot, but one from the same day, of a scene that captured my imagination.
